CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION
A sponsor has applied to the Fayette County Board of Education to operate a charter school in Fayette County beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. The application can be found here:
The Board was originally planning to vote on this charter school application at a special called meeting scheduled on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Due to an extension granted by the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Education, this special called meeting will now take place on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Public comment for or against the approval of the Charter School application will follow the guidelines in Board Policy 1.404 at the May 12th meeting.
FCPS Board Policy 1.404 states that “if an individual wishes to address the Board on an item on the agenda, he/she may sign up on the form provided before the beginning of the board meeting to request time to speak. Delegations must select only one individual to speak on their behalf unless otherwise determined by the board.” It also states that “individuals speaking to the Board shall address remarks to the chair and may direct questions to individual board members or staff members only upon approval of the chair. Each person speaking shall state his name, address, and subject of presentation. Remarks will be limited to fifteen (15) minutes per meeting (or 2-3 minutes per person) unless time is extended by the Board. The chair shall have the authority to terminate the remarks of any individual who is disruptive or does not adhere to Board rules.” The entire policy may be found here: https://4.files.edl.io/41b0/02/10/22/192812-0f6eed6f-6fef-4d2f-8a95-a0479f4ef4f9.pdf.
